Andrei Sannikov’s lawyer has again been refused access to client
The lawyer planned to visit the presidential candidate on 8 December. According to Irina Khalip, the wife of the political prisoner, the lawyer left a note in the book of complaints and went along a familiar circular route: to complain to the prosecutor of Vitebsk region, to the Vitebsk administration of the Department of Corrections, BelaPAN reports.
A previous unsuccessful attempt by the lawyer to reach Sannikov was made on 23 November.
Khalip noted that last week she had made a complaint to the Attorney General about the actions of officers of the Department of Corrections, who are not allowing a lawyer to see to her husband. “I demanded that a criminal case should be brought against them. In any event, this case will be taken up, if not now, then later. And all these complaints and records will be evidence of the case,” Khalip stressed.
Andrei Sannikov, the Belarusian presidential candidate in the 2010 elections, is in the prison colony “Vitba-3” near Vitebsk.
