Democratic activists have sent cards to political prisoners (Video)
On 31 May, activists of the Belarusian democratic community sent cards to political prisoners from Minsk Main Post Office.
More than 20 people gathered at around 19:00 in the post office building and began to sign cards in support of political prisoners, who are behind bars on criminal charges of rioting in Minsk on 19 December 2010 and on other charges, BelaPAN reports.
Several Belarusian and foreign television channels filmed the action. An employee of the Main Post Office warned the operatives that filming was prohibited in the building because it is a sensitive site.
After this, the Deputy Chief of Minsk City Police, Igor Evseev, dressed in civilian clothes, came up to the reporters and warned them that journalists who do not respond to a warning from a representative of the postal service, are violating legislation and internal guidelines. Evseev urged the operatives to leave the building. The journalists complied.
Participants in the action remained in the building of the Main Post Office to sign cards. Nobody was arrested.
