Mikola Statkevich called to celebrate May Day in a dignified way
One of the leaders of the civil campaign “European Belarus”, the chairman of the “Narodnaya Hramada” Mikola Statkevich calls upon people to take part in a European May Day meeting.
Mr. Statkevich said in an interview to Radio Svaboda:
“May Day has achieved one more sense for Belarus. We have become neighbours of the European Union on this day. It has become obvious that Belarus could become a member of the European family as well. This year Yanka Kupala Park is under repair. The Trade Union Federation has been allowed to occupy the spot near the National Library. We do not ask for permission for such actions, as we have been convinced that when we try to do so, we are given permission at Bangalore Square only. That is why we have decided to held the European-style May Day near the National Library. It is well-located, it is near the metro station, and a rather good concert is expected”.
