European Belarus at “Days of Europe” in Vilnius
Not Lukashenkist and dictatorial, but "European Belarus" will be presented on 6-8 May at the "Days of Europe" in Vilnius.
The next anniversary of the accession of the Baltic countries into the European Union will be celebrated by the residents of Vilnius on 6-8 May.
On those days on the main avenue of the Lithuanian capital, thousands of locals and visitors will gather, who are coming to sample the cuisine of European countries and to watch the performances of national ensembles.
For the first time in the history of this festival, our country will be represented amongst the EU member states .
Activists of the civil campaign “European Belarus” will remind Lithuanians that Belarus is also part of the European family of nations, and will talk about the situation which exists in the country after the presidential election – mass arrests of the opposition, political prisoners in jails and complete violation of human rights.
At the same time, Belarus will be represented from another angle. Belarusian musical groups will take part in the “Days of Europe”, and cooks in Vilnius have agreed to prepare dishes of Belarusian cuisine.
On Gedimino Avenue (landmark – Hotel Novotel), white-red-white national flags will be flying and a Belarusian tent wil be set up. “European Belarus” invites everyone to celebrate the historic choice of our neighbours and to remember that our people deserve the right to return to the European family.
