European Belarus

The participants in the peaceful act of protest against the falsified results of the elections on 19 December 2010 in Minsk have received sentences ranging from 3 to 4 years in a “harsh regime” prison.

This was stated by the activist from Andrei Sannikov’s campaign team, historian Dmitrii Drozd, during his last speech at the trial of those who participated (in the protest) at the Square.

Today, Belarusian border guards tried to detain an activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus”, Aleksandr Lukin, while crossing the Polish-Belarusian border crossing called «Slawatycze».

Aleksandr Otroshchenkov, the press secretary of presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, is serving his sentence (4 years of intensive regime) in the prison-colony “Vitba-3”.

Not Lukashenkist and dictatorial, but “European Belarus” will be presented on 6-8 May at the “Days of Europe” in Vilnius.

Christoph Strasser, a deputy of the German Bundestag and the coordinator of the Working Group on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid in the Social Democratic Parliamentary Group in the German Parliament, has spoken about his patronage of political prisoner Aleksandr Otroshchenkov.

During the trial of Andrei Sannikov, photographs were shown which were taken immediately after the crackdown on the protest at the Square.

A member of the REP (a union of workers in the radio-electronic industry) and an activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus”, Oleg Rogowskii, was arrested today at 16.30 at the entrance of the Minsk watch factory, “Luch”.
